The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute officially opened its new headquarters in Alexandria, Va., May 7 in a move the group says positions it for future growth.
OPEI previously has been located at 341 South Patrick St. in Alexandria. Last year the group announced plans to sell its existing headquarters and purchase a three-story building at 1605 King St., formerly owned by the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association.
"Thanks to record levels of membership and member engagement, we had a good problem—we outgrew our old space," OPEI CEO Kris Kiser said in a statement. "As a trade group with members in Europe, Japan, China and across the United States, we have global meetings, and we wanted to be able to host them in person and virtually. Now, we're better suited to host ISO, IEC, and other international gatherings."
The new building has a state-of-the-art conference center and is located one block from D.C. Metro rail King Street Station and four miles from Reagan National Airport, according to the association.
